Choosing a College Major

You have not even finished your high school yet but already you are being asked what you plan to major in when attending college. Perhaps you have found something to tell or just say that you don’t know, but either way, you are a little stressed about knowing you should select a major. You may feel like you plan all your life by deciding and you are not sure you are ready to do it.

You should calm down. Opting for a major is a significant part of the college education though it is not the end of what you want to do in your life. Actually, you can select a major and later change your mind if it is not your cup of tea. Or you may have an unuttered major during your first years in college when you take several general education courses that will help you define what you want to do with your career. College studies is a time of investigation choosing a college major and taking courses for the major are just small components of the whole college experience.

Deciding on a major means you have chosen the general curriculum that you want to pursue in school. It helps you utter which courses you need to take to know more about the topic you consider to get your degree in. Though if you begin to take the courses and then find out you really do not feel right in, you can change your major and pursue other curriculum. Knowing what you do not like is as significant as knowing what you do, thus you should not be afraid to follow a major and have second thoughts about it.

First, make two lists. One list is of the things you consider would be very fun to study. The second is of the careers you might love to have once. Compare the two to find the things showing upon both lists. For instance, you might consider it would be great to study astronomy though you do not have anything on the potential careers list that goes with that.
