Essay Writing

Writing essay is a very common challenge faced by the students as a part of their learning process; though it is most commonly practiced by the students, many have mastered this form of writing to express their views and achieve literary accolades.

Essays are written totally from the writer?s perspective. It may be critical, argumentative, narrative but the writer?s opinion and judgment is in the forefront. Since it comes as a short prose form, so all the ideas, points or data must be in an integrated form with proper usage of the words making the whole stuff a pleasure to read.
The first and foremost step of essay writing is to select a topic on the basis of which the prose will be created. Then a suitable title or heading must be assigned, which must be self explanatory to a great extent. A good deal of thinking and thorough study of the topic and facts related to the topic must be done.

Essay starts with an introduction which is very important to make it impressive to the readers. This theme is carried forward throughout the essay till one arrives at the conclusion. The introduction should picture the background of the essay and include a thesis statement, which will reflect the main purpose of the essay.

In my opinion the introduction and the conclusion are very decisive factors in judging the quality of the essay and in order to leave a long lasting impression on the reader. Using appropriate words, phrases decorating the information goes well for the introductory part. That doesn?t mean the paucity of facts and ideas can compensate for a good introduction or conclusion, but some lapses can be amended with a good start and a thoughtful conclusion.
The body of the essay deals with narration, arguments, facts and supportive data related, quotations if required. To draw an accurate picture of the topic, the writer should frame the ideas and points in sequential order, and then treat each point giving due importance to them according to the topic. Different paragraphs are used to analyze the ideas but there must be a link between the paragraphs with logical explanations. Any description or statement must not seem to be irrelevant. One should take care of the bibliography as the writing proceeds.

Usage of words and treatment of sentences vary according to the topic chosen. All essays can?t be written in the same tune. Whatever may be the topic, the essay must be written in an understandable language and devoid of grammatical mistakes. The views expressed by the author must be clear enough to draw the attention of the reader. Too many descriptions must be avoided as it only adds to the word content barring the quality. Essays written simple languages are acceptable to all than those with tongue- twisting jargons.

One must not deviate from the main objective of the essay in the flow of writing, but try to stick to the ideas framed at the beginning. It is advisable to go through the written part several times as one proceeds ahead. If it is written for academic purpose, the guidance of the teacher or the adviser must be followed strictly. Always recheck whether any important information is missed out or not.
Finally the essay must be read and edited several times until the writer is satisfied before sending it for publication.
